Animoto just added the option for DVD quality videos for $5 a video. That price will get you videos at a resolution of 864 x 480, rendered at 24 frames-per-second instead of the standard resolution of 432 x 240, rendered at 15 frames-per-second. The download options for the $5 upgrade are either .ISO or .MP4. (The .ISO can be burned directly to a DVD.)
Or you can have Animoto create and ship you a DVD of your video for $20.

Adobe has entered the online office space with Acrobat.com. It’s not a full office suite by any means, but it does offer document creation (text docs only, no spreadsheets), web meetings and screen sharing, pdf creation (5 free), file sharing (instead of emailing large attachments), and 5gb of online storage.

After the terrible experience I had with ProFlowers at Valentine’s Day, I set out to find another online retailer for flowers. While looking for a specific flower for my wife on Mother’s Day, I stumbled across a site called deLaFlowers. Their website was professional looking and they had a decent price on the flower I was looking for. (Especially with the 15% off coupon I found at Retail Me Not.)
A few days before the flowers were to be delivered I got a call from deLaFlowers that they could not locate a florist locally that could get ahold of the flowers that I wanted. They asked me if they could substitute some lillies instead. After I explained that I ordered those specifically because my wife had asked for them, the woman on the phone told me that they would try harder and give me a call back in the morning to let me know their progress.
As you can tell from the picture above, they were successful in locating the flowers I had ordered and were able to have them delivered by a florist from a nearby town. This is a company that has gotten customer service right. I commend them for going out of their way to make me, the customer, happy. The next time that you order flowers online, give them a try. I hope that your experience will turn out as good as mine did.

Site Move

I decided to move the site to Tumblr, which means that all of my past posts are gone. Except for the Wii Compatible Sites post since it still gets plenty of hits a day.

On the bright side, I hope that this will lead to more frequent posts on my part.

P.S. - If you subscribed to the RSS feed before the move, you’ll most likely need to update it because the feed address has changed.

Wii Compatible Sites

I decided to throw together a list of all the Wii Internet Channel compatible sites that I know of. Here they are:
  • Finetune - Type an artist’s name, we create a playlist of related songs for you to listen to.

It allows you to stream certain types of pictures, music, videos and files from your computer (where the server running) to your Nintendo Wii. It runs on most major operating systems including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
  • Orb (Must be installed on your computer) - In short, Orb provides the ability to MyCast. MyCasting gives the user instant access to photos, music, videos, live television, and other digital content on their home PC at anytime and from any internet-connected device, such as a mobile phone, PDA, laptop, or Wii.
  • SWiiTSPOT - The SWiiTSPOT is a user-driven social bookmarking site aimed at users of the Nintendo Wii console.
  • WiiCade.com - Flash-based arcade games that can be played on the Wii.
  • WiiFii - A lunchpad for various Wii compatible flash games. (thanks tim 4rd)
